Letters to the Editor

Thursday, October 29, 2009

I had an encounter this morning that is the culmination of a few years attending this college. A young man rode his bike on the sidewalk at Beaver Elementary while children were walking on the same sidewalk. I told him not to ride his bike there.

Flotsam and Jetsam

Sunday, October 25, 2009

I eagerly await the condemnation from the U.S. State Department, the UN Human Rights Council, and the Human Rights Watch of this : “A Saudi court on Saturday convicted a female journalist for her involvement in a TV show, in which a Saudi man publicly talked about sex, and sentenced her to 60 lashes.” The Washington Post explains that the J Street conference takes place in a “tense debate.” Not as tense as those members of Congress will be when their presence at the conference is thrown b

Wednesday, October 21, 2009

As a candidate, Barack Obama was just as comfy on a late night couch as he was on the stump. The late night comedians and writers spared Obama from the barbs and prods they use to turn formidable politicians into laughing stocks. After all, they had their scopes set squarely on you know who… (paging Tina Fey).

Sunday, October 11, 2009

Swiss Chard & Roasted Red Pepper Turkey Meatloaf Comfort food usually comes in the form of sweets or carbs for me, but one night last week I found myself craving a homey meatloaf instead. So off to the store I went to buy ground turkey (for the record I just LOVE having a grocery store right across the street) then raided my refrigerator for forgotten vegetables accumulated over the last two weeks. That’s what’s beautiful about meatloaf, the ground meat (in this case turkey) serves as a

As Le nutritionniste puts it (google translation here), this is a PR move by the Coke corporation in the face of a possible tax on sugary drinks (for my thoughts on the tax, see here), and one that is presented pretty well.I agree with m
