Weight loss has become an obsession in a nation where 63% of the people are overweight and a startling 31% are obese. Clearly our modern lifestyle is not healthy. Many people are desperate to make a change and will try any ‘magic-bullet’ weight loss cure that is offered – still the obesity rates climb.

I just learned recently that in mainland China there’s a whole business centered on getting pregnant women into Hong Kong to give birth so that the babies get extra Hong Kong citizenship privileges. This trend has been dubbed “maternity tourism.” Surreal. Of course, there’s also a backlash .

As I’ve said before, I am a vegan for health reasons. I think that being vegan is the healthiest option for me and since I’ve been vegan I truly feel healthier. However, I would just like to point out that just because someone is vegan doesn’t necessarily mean they are healthy.

Nobody listens to people who “cry wolf” or who are hypocrites. Nothing could be nearer the truth when it comes to the government’s anti cannabis campaign aimed at young people. The problem we have is real; we have ever younger kids getting hold of and smoking cannabis and despite of all the effort being put into trying to dissuade them, kids are still doing it.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. ( AP ) — A mother whose newborn was kidnapped by a knife-wielding woman posing as an immigration agent was briefly reunited with her baby Saturday, then saw him and her three other children taken from her and put into state custody. Rob Johnson, a spokesman for the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services, said the children were taken from their mother, Maria Gurrolla, "purely for safety reasons," though he would not detail why the state deemed they were in danger.
